ABB expands its power semiconductor business amid rising demand

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has agreed to acquire the semiconductor business of Polovodiče a.s. in the Czech Republic.

The additional production capacity for high-power semiconductors will help ABB to cope with the expected rising demand fueled by growth in renewable energy and efforts to improve energy efficiency.

ABB announces Remote Service for medium voltage drives

ABB released Remote Service for medium voltage drives. The service combines remote connectivity, 24/7 technical support, and DriveMonitor solution. DriveMonitor hardware installed inside the drive, and the DriveMonitor software layer, automatically collect and analyze selected drive signals and parameters and trigger predefined diagnostic actions. Remote connectivity enables expert analysis of error logs and detection of drive mechanical or electrical problems, which can be managed and corrected.
